The state park just around the corner from the Party Cove rents slips by the night for nominal charge also. Good times can be had at these docks after hours. Most have plug-in's for our shorepower and we'll snuggle in for the night at little or no cost and avoid contact with the water-patrols. We usually end up tieing up at the docks of whatever bar we end up at.
Numerous lake activities going on, night life, lake side dining etc, etc. Or even easier, go to the golf course cove just past the four seasons bridge and they have the same thing going on, just more family oriented. I've taken kids there and stay towards the back of the cove and have had no problems. If you stay away from the front line, where the big house boats are, you will not get involved with the college pranks, nudity and sexualy explicit activities going on. The party cove can be a very fun place to be. The lake is so big that you will always be able to find a little tucked away secluded cove. There is something for everyone at our lake.
I know LOTO well and quite frankly I can't imagine a better location for your family vacation. I've been to Lake Cumberland and it's a great location to go boating. I have not been to lake Havasu yet, but I plan too sometime this summer.
